- American rapper from Broward County, Florida (born January 23, 1998). Became well known for his successful 'hard-hitting' SoundCloud release 'Look At Me', which garnered 80 million online streams. Tentacion (rolled 's' sound) is Latin for 'temptation', and he interpreted 'X' as meaning 'unknown' because for a long time it was to him, the only unknown numeral.
Thus, 'unknown temptation'. He also stated in an interview with 103.5 TheBeat that his stage name was likewise in part inspired through his pornography habit. He is of Syrian, Jamaican, Indian, and (part) Italian decent. Announced in mid-2017 that he is going on hiatus from the music industry due to what he perceived as increasing 'negativity' directed at him following domestic violence allegations. Soon after this claim, he previewed some new music, and on November 17th, 2017 he announced a full-length project with the title, 'Bad Vibes Forever'. Then, on December 11th, 2017 he released the A GHETTO CHRISTMAS CAROL! EP. A day before his hearing for witness tampering charges he announced that he was in the process of preparing three albums to be released in 2018 with the working titles, 'Skins', 'Bad Vibes Forever' and '?'. On January 22nd, 2018, X announced that he and fellow rapper Joey Bada$$ were working on a project together, and went on to release a remix of TDE's 'King's Dead' on March 9th. On the same day, he uploaded a video called '#THEHELPINGHANDCHALLENGE' to his YouTube channel, in said video he donated a variety of items (including but not limited to: musical equipment, video games and clothing) to a local foster home. He encouraged his followers to participate in the challenge for a reward, on top of that, he said he would only release his new album, '?', if #THEHELPINGHANDCHALLENGE got to 1 million posts on Instagram. Shortly after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, X released the song, 'HOPE', dedicating it to those who died in the horrific shooting. At midnight on March 2, 2018, X released the singles, 'SAD!' and 'changes'. Shortly after X announced the release date of '?' as March 16th, 2018, also announcing the tracklisting on the same day.
