Turns out the problem was the Save editor only let's you choose saves 0-5, while my save folder showed 0-7 (the manual save being folder '6') I deleted folder 5 and renamed 6 to 5. Maybe the 2 additional save folders are created when you start a game on hard mode?

Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge (originally known as Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge) is the 6th title in the Wizardry series of role-playing video games.It was the first in the trilogy surrounding the Dark Savant, which was followed by Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant and Wizardry 8.It was developed by Sir-Tech Software, Inc. And was released on the Amiga and DOS platforms. Tools

Moslo Deluxe (40k) - MoSlo Deluxe is a program that will slow your computer down. This is helpful when you are trying to play old DOS games on today's PCs. This program will stop the Divide Overflow error with Bane and Dsavant.
DOSBox (link) is another recommended emulator for running older games.
Wizardry Browser (159k) - Java application that reads your Wizardry scenario disk and displays pretty much everything that is stored on it.
Wizardry Map Template (6k) - Here's my picture of a blank 20x20 grid, for use as a mapping aid.
