The focus of the show was moved from the teacher, Miss Bliss to the children in her class, the majority of whom stayed in the show after Good Morning, Miss Bliss was rebranded. Set in the Palisades, California Saved by the Bell follows the lives of a group of teenagers headed by Zack Morris, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar and his on-off girlfriend Kelly Kapowski, played by Tiffani Thiessen. Throughout the four seasons of the show Zack uses the Shakesperean device of freezing time and addressing the audience directly to express his feelings about what is happening in the plot.
